W. Lyle Neigh

Ithaca, NY

W. Lyle Neigh, of Ithaca, passed away September 29, 2016, at the age of 95.

Born May 27, 1921, in Ithaca, Lyle was a son of the late Alfred and Samantha Bryant Neigh.  An Ithaca High School graduate, Lyle worked for a short time at NCR in Ithaca before proudly serving in the US Army.  After an honorable discharge from the military, he returned to Ithaca, married his sweetheart, Mary Burling Neigh in 1944 and resumed his employment with NCR.  He was a dedicated employee with over 40 years of service, ultimately retiring as the tool room foreman.   Lyle also spent nearly 60 years volunteering with the Ithaca Fire Department Company 5 and served many years as a lead fire investigator.  Lyle enjoyed the comradery of the many friendships he developed in the firefighting community.

In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Burling Neigh; daughter, Rebecca; son, Paul; sisters, Gladys, Laura, Millie and Barbara; brothers, Virgil, Stanley and Jim.

Lyle is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Neigh of Ithaca; beloved grandson, Paul Whitcomb of Rushville, NY; sister in law, Roberta Burling of FL; cousins, nieces, nephews and his close friends, Alex, Savino and John. 

No immediate services are scheduled.  Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lansing will be at a later date.
