Tommy G. Vaughan passed away on January 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and family following his courageous 15 month battle with Esophageal Cancer. He was a true warrior who refused to give up in the face of insurmountable odds. He was born in Bolivar, TN on September 13, 1952 to the late Jewell and Johnnie (Sipes) Vaughan. He graduated from Bolivar High School and then joined the United States Navy in 1971 and retired with over 20 years of service as a Career Recruiter. Tommy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved working on and building computers and was involved in developing one of the first internet service providers while living on Guam. After spending many years as a stay at home Dad and Grandfather, he supervised the Ambassador program for many years at the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport.The family wishes to express thanks to Cayuga Medical Center Radiation/Oncology, Cayuga Hematology Oncology Associates, and Outpatient Infusion. Special thanks are given to all of the CHOA Chemo Suite nurses, staff and volunteers for their compassionate and special care during his illness.He is survived by his wife, Debbie Dragon, sons Tyler (Ithaca), Tommy (Ocala, FL) and Jeremy (Cortland, NY) and daughter Crystal (Lecanto, FL). In addition, he is survived by his brother Charles âLynnâ Vaughan (wife Donna) of Huntsville, AL, sister Judy Hite of Cordova, TN, as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He is also survived by a multitude of friends, both local and afar. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James.Calling hours will be held from 5-7pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY. A memorial service to commemorate Tommyâs life will begin at 7pm.In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have donations made to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, 612 W.
