Terena C. Blazeyk

Terena C. Blazeyk (May 13, 1948 – March 15, 2025) passed away peacefully at Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family on the afternoon of March 15, 2025 after years of living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Terena was born in Ithaca, NY to Bronslow “Brownie” and Sarah Solomon Blazeyk. She spent her formative years growing up on “Syrian Hill” in Myers and later renovated and returned to her childhood home in retirement.

Terena obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland. She completed her thirty plus year career at the Owego Apalachin Central School District following her student teaching at the same district. Terena taught in both the Owego Elementary & Middle Schools and later became the Dean of Students following the completion of a Certificate of Advance Study in Educational Leadership. She was a life-long learner and enjoyed reading, listening to music, and traveling.

While in college, she was a member of Sigma Gamma Phi Arethusa Sorority where she developed lifelong friendships with her sorority sisters. She enjoyed traveling with them to Provincetown, Surfside Beach and cruising on the Rhine River.

She is survived by her brother Barry, treasured godson Nick Boney and many cousins. Terena is predeceased by her parents Brownie and Sarah Blazeyk.

The family would like to give thanks to Rochelle Mike, Julie Boles, Don Howell, Melissa Nye at Bridges Cornell Heights, Deb Traunstein, Brad Pollack and the entire staff at Cayuga Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion.

A celebration of Terena’s life will be held in the near future. Details regarding the date and location will be announced.
