Susan C. Bracco

Susan C. Bracco, age 65, passed away peacefully at the Hospicare residence in Ithaca, NY, on July 17, 2024. “Sue B.”, as she was better known to her friends, was born on January 3, 1959 in Bayshore, Long Island, to the late Angelo and Jennie (Sumcizk) Bracco. She excelled in three sports: softball, swimming, and volleyball. After graduating from Brentwood High School in 1977, she attended Ithaca College with a tri-sport scholarship.

After college, Susan stayed in the Ithaca area. She was first employed by the Tompkins County Youth Bureau as a recreation director, then as a Youth Division Aide at the Finger Lakes Residential Center in Lansing, NY. She was recently retired.

Susan loved playing both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, hiking, swimming, and biking. She recently reconnected with her friends from high school and college, and had an alumni reunion with her Ithaca College friends. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports and especially loved the Olympics. She also enjoyed Lifetime Movie Network movies. Her love for pets was her greatest pleasure; she called them her kids! There was Toby, Beeper, Dakota, Brandon, and Herbie.

Susan is survived by her brother, Richard “Rick” (Cindy) Bracco of Islip Terrace, Long Island, and John (Marie) Bracco of FL; niece, Valerie (Adam) and their children Nathan and Daniel; nephews, Jeffrey and Phillip; and niece, Lindsay. She is also survived by many close and longtime friends, including Anita Grosso, Sue Yaniello, and Maria Corcacas.

A Celebration of Life will held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Myers Park, Pavilion C. Friends are welcome to gather beginning at 1:00 p.m.
