Stanley Bothwell

Stanley Bothwell, 102, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017 at Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca, NY.

Mr. Bothwell, the son of Fred and Mildred Bothwell, was born on May 25, 1914 in Auburn, New York.  After graduating from Genoa High School, he attended Cornell University, where he was a member of the band, before returning to East Genoa to help run the family farm.  Upon retirement, Stanley, and his late wife Ethel, travelled the United States with their travel trailer before settling down on Maple Drive in Lansing, NY.  They spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida where Stanley took up golf, and to his great surprise and pleasure, ultimately hit a “hole-in-one”.

Stanley is survived by his two sons; Thomas Bothwell (his partner Nancy Baker) of Moravia; Gary Bothwell (his fiancée Irene Hurst) of Lansing; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and his sister Lucy Henjes of Southport, NC.  Ethel, his wife of 75 years, pre-deceased him in January, 2017.

In keeping with Stanley and Ethel’s wishes they were cremated and their ashes were mixed together.  There will be a family burial service at the Genoa Rural Cemetery on a later date.
