Patricia Pryor, 79, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca. Born on November 21, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Bertha “Marie” (Middaugh) Stanton.
After earning her Master’s in Education, Pat began teaching at Lansing Central School District. She spent the majority of her 38-year career in public education at the Ithaca City School District as a special education teacher, retiring in 2000. A very active member of the Tompkins County Democratic Committee, Pat represented the First Ward on the City of Ithaca’s Common Council and went on to become a member of the Tompkins County Legislature. She was a member of Lansing United Methodist Church and proud supporter of numerous local organizations, including the SPCA of Tompkins County and Planned Parenthood.
Pat would always go above and beyond to help others—including many of her former students with whom she kept in touch. She was a true advocate for others and always put them above herself. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her many bird feeders. She also loved animals—especially her rescue dogs. Nothing, however, was more important to her than her granddaughter, Amellia.
Pat is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Tracy Pryor, and granddaughter, Amellia Pryor.
Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Road, Lansing. Masks will be required.
