Nancy (Sweazey) Norman

On September 23, 2024, Nancy Norman (nee Sweazey) passed peacefully in hospice in Chandler, Arizona. She was born August 12, 1932, to Marion and Gladys Stedman Sweazey of Lansing, NY. She grew up on her father’s farm overlooking beautiful Cayuga Lake. She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel “Sam” Norman in 1951. They met in 5th grade and were married for 68 years. Sam predeceased Nancy, as did her parents. She is survived by children, Dr. Cynthia (William) Carbo and Samuel E. (Kelly), and grandchildren, Joseph Carbo, Nicholas (Jeannine) Carbo, Jaclyn (Tyler) Caldwell, Denise (Aaron) Roshti, and Kayla Lockard. Nancy is also survived by her sister Kathleen (Donald) LaLonde, brother Walter L. Sweazey, and their children. Nancy worked as a secretary for 30 years, in Ithaca, NY and Baltimore, MD. She took pride in her family, first and foremost. She enjoyed reading, music, gardening and nature, and her feline friends.

She and Sam lived for 40 years in Baltimore MD, before moving to Chandler, AZ, in 2000.

Services will be held in Lansing, NY at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or to the animal shelter of your choice.
