Mildred “Millie” Horton, 94, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, while surrounded by family at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. Born in Ithaca on September 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Collins) Hovanus.

Millie was fortunate to travel around much of the United States and the world with her husband, Glenn Horton, when he was serving in the United States Navy. They were married for 65 years at the time of Glenn’s passing in 2015. Millie also enjoyed gardening; her favorite time of year was spring when everything was in bloom. More than anything, she loved her family and family gatherings.

Millie is survived by her son, David Horton of Houston, TX, and his children, Jon Horton (Misty) and Ashley Kennedy (Nathan); her daughter, Carol Lowe (Richard) of Newark Valley, NY, and her children, Josh Williams (Krista), Jason Williams (girlfriend Paula) and Jeff Williams (Kerry); her daughter, Sandy Landon (Lynn) of Lansing, NY, and their children, Sara Hatfield (John) and Rusty Landon (Kathryn); and her son, Jim Horton (Patty) of Alpine, CA, and her children, April Gonzales (Dan) and Albert Castellanos. Millie is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alexa, Victoria, Alec, Aubrey, Chloee, Logan, Levi, Addy, Blakely, Hannah, Gage, August, Dusty and Sienna.

In addition to her parents and husband, Millie was predeceased by her granddaughter, Stephanie Vasquez (Arnold), and siblings, Florence Leonard, Clara Howland, Ida Hovanus, Edith Hovanus and Norman “Bud” Hovanus.

Millie will be laid to rest with Glenn during a private committal service at North Lansing Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Immediately following the interment, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life and reception at the North Lansing Fire Station #4, 1189 Auburn Road, Locke, NY 13092.
