Michael L. Ross, Jr.

July 15, 1961 — August 19, 2023

Ithaca, NY

Michael L. Ross, Jr., 62, of Ithaca, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, after an extended illness.  Born on July 15, 1961, in Huntington, WV, he was the son of Michael L. Ross, Sr., and the late Carolyn (Saxton) Ketter.  After growing up and attending school in West Virginia, Michael joined the US Marine Corps in 1979 and served until 1982, at which time he moved to Ithaca, NY, to start a family.  He attended TC3 and held many jobs in the Ithaca area.

The most important thing in Michael’s life was his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed fishing and watching the History Channel—especially when the topic was military history.  He was a diehard sports fan and followed the Cincinnati Bengals and Marshall Thundering Herd football teams, and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

Michael is survived by his wife, Terry (Horton) Ross of Ithaca; daughters, Amanda Ross-Scott (Arnold) of Groton, Sebrina Bickal (Cole) of Lansing, and Karina Ross of Lansing; father, Michael L. Ross, Sr. of WV; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Tammy Jarrell of OH; and stepchildren, Aaron Dougherty of Newfield and Colleen Pattison of FL.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Jon Ross.

In keeping with Michael’s wishes, services will be private.
