Matthew Doyle Tavelli

Matthew Doyle Tavelli, born September 8, 1970 in Ithaca, New York, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Lansing, New York on October 5, 2014. The son of Paul and Connie Tavelli, he is survived by his sister, Tara Tavelli (Stefan Brownell); beloved niece Tayla and beloved nephew, Jake. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Audrey Doyle, and paternal grandparents, Rudolph and Florence Tavelli.

Matthew was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after ten years on the open sea, where he mastered sailing his ship through the Straits of Bonafaci. He loved the sea but cherished even more the tranquil waters of Cayuga Lake which drew him home.

Family will be present to receive friends from 4-6 pm, Thursday, October, 9th, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY 14882.

A private ceremony for family will held at a later date.
