Mary E. LaFavor, 101, passed away on February 10, 2012 at the Groton Nursing Facility. Prior to her move to Groton, she had been a Lansing resident for most of her life.
Born January 2, 1911, in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Susan (Vaszily) Toth. Mary was a dedicated employee of NCR for over 30 years. She had been a faithful parishioner at All Saints Church, a member of the Lansing Senior Citizens, Groton Senior Citizens, R.S.V.P., Lansing United Grange No. 1599, as well as the Dryden Grange No. 1112.
She was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family tremendously.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon J. LaFavor, and her siblings, Rudy Chiszar, Ethel Terwilliger, Anna McNeil, Tony Chiszar and Francis Toth.
She is survived by her sons Vernon (Camilla) LaFavor of Groton City, Donald (Hazel) LaFavor of Queensbury, NY; grandchildren, Vernon L.(Vickie) LaFavor, Penny (Kevin) Hawks, Scott (Rose) LaFavor, Judy (Mike) McCory; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Irene McGahey of Islip, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Richard Schatzel of the Good Shepard Catholic Community, will begin at 1pm on February 15, 2012, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY.
Burial, delayed until spring, will be at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in King Ferry.
