Margaret Jackson Moschak passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2023. Born to a farmer in Evans Mills, NY, on July 13, 1926, Margaret spent her formative years working on a farm during the Great Depression. Her high school years covered the span of WWII, and when she graduated, she worked for a time as a secretary. However, she always yearned to better herself, so she applied for a scholarship to become a teacher, and graduated from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor’s in 1952, and in 1955 with a Master’s in Education. Shortly afterwards, she met the man who would become her husband, George Moschak, and they married in 1957 and had four children. A divorce some years later led to her moving to Ithaca, where she was a member of the Unitarian Church, worked for congressman Matt McHugh, and was an instructor in Tai Chi.
Margaret is survived by four children, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve, 293 Irish Hill Road, Newfield, NY, 14867. A gathering for remembrance will take place at her home after the ceremony.
