Louis M. Varga, 74, of Lansing, NY, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by family on October 14, 2024. Born on November 2, 1949, in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of the late Stephen G. Varga, Sr. and Susie (Solomon) Varga.
Louie, as he was better known to his family and friends, enlisted in the US Army and honorably served in Vietnam. Upon his return to civilian life, he assisted his brother Steve with his excavation business, Varga Backhoe Services, and worked in the transportation department at Lansing Central School District, retiring as the transportation supervisor. When Louie wasn’t working, he enjoyed fixing and riding motorcycles, cutting wood, getting coffee with Steve, watching old movies on television, and spending time with his family.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dixie (Miller) Varga; children, Richie A. Varga and Renee (Mitch) Snyder; grandchildren, Gideon Varga, Hutton Snyder and Hadley Snyder; and brother, Stephen G. Varga, Jr. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Gloria Varga, Wendy Varga, Judy Sweazey (Ronnie Eastman), Terri (Stuart) Dean and Bonny (David) Wolf; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jennie Miller, John Varga and James Varga.
In keeping with Louie’s wishes, services will be private.
