Kristin Lee (Stevenson) DiPronio

Kristin “Kris” Lee Stevenson Dipronio of Ithaca passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 16, 2025. 

Kristin was born on July 6, 1958, in Cortland and grew up in Groton. She graduated from Groton Central Schools in 1976 and earned her degree from Ithaca College in 1980. 

Throughout her career, Kristin enjoyed working with troubled youth and took pride in attempting to instill lasting pro-social skills, always believing that people are capable of positive change. She worked at George Junior Republic, Tompkins County Probation Department, and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision at Cayuga Correctional Facility (CCF). She was promoted at Auburn Correctional Facility and returned to CCF and retired in 2014. 

Kristin married Anthony Dipronio on September 5, 1992, after their careers caused their paths to cross and their lives to be connected forever by their love. 

Kristin enjoyed every day, but especially loved flowers, gardening, all types of crafting, sunsets, dogs and cats, especially her rescue retirement puppy Herby, and all the beauties of nature. She volunteered to take trained rescue dogs into nursing homes to brighten the lives of the residents, as well as various volunteer tasks for the town of Locke, and the local food bank. She was a long-time committee member of the Auburn Great Race team triathlon. 

Kristin is survived by her loving husband Tony, and beloved dog Herby, sister Susan Stevenson Allen, niece Katrina Stephanie Allen, niece Shanna Stevenson Walls (Matt), nephew Dustin Stevenson (Ashlee), sister-in-law Debi Stevenson, and many beloved cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents Victoria Zibulski Stevenson and Richard Luther Stevenson, brother Richard “Rick” William Stevenson, nephew Wesley Victor Allen, brother-in-law Paul Bruce Allen, her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and her beloved mother-in-law and father-in-law Irene and Anthony Dipronio. 

There will be a Celebration of Life for Kristin at a later date, to be announced. In lieu of flowers, Kristin would have loved contributions to be made to Herby’s rescue mama at Pet the Pet Program, 6371 Strong Road, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
