Lansing
Kirk J. Hoag, âJohnâ, age 89, passed away on March 31, 2012 in the comfort of his Lansing home. Born February 10, 1923 in Norwich, NY, John was the youngest son of the late Kirk M. and Lula (Shorter) Hoag. John spent his early days working on the family farm until he married his wife Clarice Baker Hoag in 1944. During WWII John and Clarice lived in Buffalo where John worked at Curtiss-Wright as a riveter on the P40, C46 and P47 aircrafts. In 1947 John and Clarice moved to Lansing where he was employed with the Lansing School District as head custodian and bus driver until his retirement in 1978. He was also the Clerk of The Works during the construction of Woodsedge Senior Apartments. John enjoyed camping on the St. Lawrence River, hunting, fishing, gardening and sports. He also loved woodworking and carpentry which motivated him to get involved in many building projects throughout the years. Of all Johnâs interests and accomplishments his greatest joy in life was time spent with his family. He enjoyed the constant flow of loved ones and friends stopping by to visit.
John was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Robert and Lawrence Hoag.
He is survived by his children, Linda Parker (Sherwin DiSanto) of Lansing, Betty (Harlan) Redder of Lansing, Gerald (Joann) Hoag of Virginia, Susan (Randy) Bowman of Lansing, Janet Hoag of Lansing and Jane Hoag of Lansing; Grandchildren, Amy (Randy) Lattin, Matthew Hoag, Tonia (Ricky) Landon, Sarah (Ben) Landry, Jon (Kimberly Jetty) Bowman, Julie (James) Hatfield, Cathleen (Ben) Teeter, Robin (Dan) Austin, Casie (Nick) Smith, Kelley Collins (Dan), Christopher Inman (Jessica), Jesse Bush and Lauri Bush; Great grandchildren, Keegan and Kaylynn Lattin, Easton Landon, Hayden Hatfield, Bryce Eastman, Garrett and Brendan Kirk Austin, Dalton Smith, Haley and Kendal Collins and Morgan Fedrizzi.
John is also survived by his sister Grace Carnal, sister-in-law Mary Baker, brother-in-law Gaynard Baker and many nieces and nephews.

Family will be present to receive friends from 4-6 pm Thursday April 5th at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY, followed by a private prayer service for family.
