James L. Jackson, Sr. was born to Louis Jackson and Florence McBride on September 8, 1941, in Syracuse, NY. He passed away peacefully at home in Lansing, NY, on March 19, 2023, at the age of 81.
Being Native American and with an undiagnosed learning disability, early life was hard for him. He later persevered and earned his certification in auto glass installation, becoming a premier routine and custom glass installer. He also earned his GED at age 64. He married his wife, Elizabeth, on March 5, 1962, and stayed beside her until her death at age 54. He later became a volunteer firefighter in NC and joined the Lansing Fire Department, of which he served until his passing. As a resident of Woodsedge Apartments, he answered EMS and fire calls. His fellow residents have expressed the gratefulness for his unabated willingness to assist them. He was well known by local EMS/Fire and law enforcement agencies. He was a member of the Lansing United Methodist Church and considered the congregation his family.
James is survived by his daughter Patti Ann, son James Jr., and sister Elizabeth Fliesch.
