Hillis Lee Wilson

Hillis Lee Wilson, 85, of Lansing, NY, passed away suddenly on October 14, 2023, in Ithaca, NY.  Born in Elmira, NY, on October 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Hillis and Marian Alicia (Jones) Wilson.  Hillis graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1956 and went on to attend Corning Community College, graduating in 1960, and immediately began working at NCR Corp.  In 1961, he entered the US Army and spent time in Germany before being honorably discharged in 1963.  He then served in the US Army Reserves from 1964 to 1966.  Following his time in the service, he returned to NCR Corp., where he retired as Senior Design Engineer.

After meeting on a blind date, Hillis married Judy A. Wickham, originally of Montour Falls, on April 9, 1967.  They enjoyed over 40 years of marriage until her death on July 3, 2009.  They were both longtime and faithful members of Lansing United Methodist Church, where Hillis served as a trustee for many years.  He was also a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Ithaca-Cortland Chapter 157 and Groton American Legion.  In his free time, he enjoyed playing the accordion.

In addition to his wife Judy, Hillis was predeceased by his daughter, Susan B. Wilson, on September 25, 2013.  He is survived by numerous cousins and his church family.

A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Alison Schmied, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Road, Lansing, NY 14882.  Friends are invited to a period of visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Odessa, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
