Helen Vera Prokop

Helen V. Prokop, age 88, of Eastwood Commons, passed away Friday, October 12, 2012, at the Hospicare residence in Ithaca.

Born December 4, 1923, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Francis (Ruk) Batha.

Helen, a talented graphic designer, served as a devoted housewife and dedicated mother during her lifetime, and will be remembered by family and friends for her compassion, kindness, and thoughtfulness to all whose paths crossed her own. She was an accomplished traveler, both internationally and domestically.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Prokop, and a daughter, Diane Prokop McPherson.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. William J. (Sue) Prokop of King Ferry, NY, Richard (Tracey) Prokop, and their daughter, Dana, of Baldwinsville, NY; a brother, Edward (Florence) Batha of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a niece, Jane Fedderson of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and her beloved cat “Nilla.”

A memorial service, officiated by Reverend Ralph English, will begin at 2:00pm, Friday, October 19, 2012, at Lansing Funeral Home, 32 Auburn Rd., Lansing, NY.

Private inurnment at Unadilla Center Cemetery, Unadilla, NY, will be held at a later date.
