Gertrude B. "Trudy" Kopp

Lansing/Mt. Airy, MD

Gertrude B. “Trudy” Kopp, age 97, formerly of Lansing, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016, in Mounty Airy, MD. 

Born April 18, 1919 in Little Falls, NY, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Stallman) Bauer. Trudy was a graduate of Little Falls Sr. High School and The Excelsior School of Business in Utica, NY.  On November 6, 1948, Trudy was married to Gustav “Gus” H. Kopp in Christ Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and she was a person who always thought of others. 

Prior to her marriage she was employed as Assistant Supervisor of the Materials Control Department in the office of the Cherry Burrell Corp. in Little Falls.  For a number of years Trudy was a homemaker, raising her children with her husband until her employment at Cornell University in September of 1966.  She worked for ten years in the Benefits Department of the Personnel Office, retiring in 1976.

In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Gus, in 2003; sisters, Minnie Bowers and Nellie Kopp; sisters in law, Cornelia Kopp and Inge Kopp; brothers in law, Arthur Kopp, Alfred Kopp, Walter Kopp and Howard Hicks.

Trudy is survived by her children, Frederick Kopp (Linda) of Pittsford, NY; daughter, Jacquelyn Cromer (David) of Clarksburg, MD; grandchildren, Erik Kopp, Kristin Kopp-Mecham (Brigham), Katherine Casey (James and children), Sarah Blanchard (Timothy and children), Laura and Emily Cromer; sister, Eleanor of Coram NY; and a large extended family.

Trudy was a member of the Lansing Senior Citizens and St. Luke Lutheran Church.  A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Rick Bair, will be held at 11 am, September 19, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 109 Oak Ave., Ithaca, NY.  Family will be present to receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Trudy’s memory may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 109 Oak Ave., Ithaca, NY 14850.
