Evelyn E. Countryman, 86, of Milliken Station Rd., Ext., passed away at home on Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Born at home in Lansing on August 22, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Dana and Ruth (Townley) Ludlow. A lifelong area resident, Evelyn was a devoted employee for over 38 years with the Lansing Central School District as a custodian and bus driver. She loved to work and always had an abundance of energy. Her energy and independent spirit kept her busy at her lake home where she loved to be outdoors gardening, feeding the birds, enjoying her daily visits with her four legged friends, especially Annie, her therapy dog, and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon D. Countryman, and two sons, Gary and Greg Countryman.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Aldrich of NC; grandchildren, Crystal Aldrich, Melissa Countryman, Michael and Mathew Countryman, great grandchildren, Tehya Colvin-Aldrich and Austin Bohland all of NC; her sister, Eleanor Ruzicka, of Lansing; nieces, Pam (John) Haring of Lansing, Jan (Steve Fazzary) Ruzicka of Lansing, Kim (Mel) McLachlan of Interlaken; and a nephew, Ryan Moore of Lansing.
In keeping with Evelynâs wishes, private services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Evelynâs name may be directed to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, 612 W. State St., Ithaca, NY, 14850 or the SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
Evelynâs family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Garbo and staff for their compassion and care during her treatment.
