Elizabeth “Betty” L. Norman, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2015. God saw that she was tired, he put his arms around her and said “Come with Me”, Abe and Terry are waiting for you.

Born June 7, 1922 in Lansing, Betty was a daughter of the late Paul and Louise Zifchock Lucas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abraham Norman; her son, Terrance Norman; sisters, Mary, Anna, Katie and Agness; and brother, Charles.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jeff and Denise Norman; grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Norman, Lisa Norman, Sean Norman, Meagan (Frank) Carson, Michelle (Jason) Teale and Danielle (Patrick) Kimmich; great grandchildren, Michael, Annabelle, JJ, Makayla and Kyliegh; as well as her sister, Dorothy Small.

Betty graduated from Lansing High School in 1941 and retired after many years of employment with NCR in Ithaca. She enjoyed working with children at her “retirement job” with Lansing Head Start.

She had a gift of laughter and could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Her kindness and loving personality will be greatly missed. She was a resident of Woodsedge in Lansing for 17 years, where she was the Association Coordinator, planning many parties and activities. She enjoyed her nightly card games with friends. Betty’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Campbell and the staff at Cayuga Oncology for their excellent care over the past three years, and also to the staff at Groton Nursing Facility for their loving care during her final months.

In keeping with Betty’s wishes, no calling hours are scheduled. A private graveside service will be held for family. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be directed to Groton Nursing Facility (activities fund), 120 Sykes St., Groton, NY, 13073.

Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
