Doris Rita Godin

Doris Rita Godin, 77, known as “Didi” to friends and family, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. She was laid to rest at Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve in Newfield, NY on September 21. She is survived by her loving daughter Tasha Michel Williams of Valrico, FL, grandchildren Jah Michael Bigelow and Marley Marahya Glidden, and her faithful brother Arthur Michael Godin of Ithaca NY.

Didi was a beautiful woman who always dressed with flair. She brought lightheartedness to her friendships, intensity and passion to her many loves.

Didi never gave up the pursuit of her musical dreams. She was a wonderful singer who performed as “Didi Rich” in the Tampa Bay area. She found clever ways of recording and multitracking her voice with the humblest of home studio gear and produced dozens of audio and video recordings which she shared with family and friends. 

Over the years she fashioned an imaginative board game she called The Animal Travel Game, which she hoped would enjoy widespread success.

As she faded into dementia, Didi was fortunate to receive the loving and compassionate care of the staff at Cortland Park Rehab and Nursing Center. She would have liked the linen cloth and flowers that swaddled her as family lowered her into earth’s embrace.
