Debra Lynn (Roblyer) Volbrecht, 70, passed away at home while surrounded by family on February 3, 2024. Born January 12, 1954 in Montour Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Shirley (Bradley) Roblyer. Deb was retired from Lansing Central School District, where she worked as a teaching assistant in Kindergarten. She loved kids at this age and had a great time working here for a number of years.
Deb was an avid bowler and worked for a number of years with Ide’s junior bowling. She also helped with the Ithaca Junior Bowling Association and was a main part of the staff for the Youth Bowlers Tour for several years. No matter where they were bowling, she always served as her husband Doug’s personal coach. In recent years when she could no longer bowl, she continued to coach Doug and others, and enjoyed seeing great friends at the Friday morning senior bowling at Cort-Lanes.
Deb was also a crafter of rag lights and counted cross stitch sewing. She and her partner Margaret worked for many hours and attended a number of craft shows throughout the years.
Deb is survived by her husband, Douglas Volbrecht; son, James Volbrecht, and his daughter Stephanie; and daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Hardy and their daughter Ashley.
Debra’s family would like to thank her many friends and family members, and especially Dr. Bael and his staff, for all of their help and support during the years she was able to be with us while battling cancer. The East Hill Campus held many great memories with its staff and her special friend Martha (may the birds always come to your feeder).
Per her wishes, there be no calling hours or public services. A private graveside service will be held in North Lansing Cemetery in the spring. A memorial picnic will be held in Debra’s memory over the summer.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Hospicare, Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, or Friends of the Library.
