Charles “Chuck” R. Baker, Jr., age 84, of Newfield, passed away December 5, 2012, at Cayuga Medical Center.

Born July 9, 1928, in Ithaca, Chuck was the son of the late Charles R. and Helen (Hurd) Baker Sr.

A lifelong area resident, Chuck and his family lived in Lansing for many years, and upon his retirement he and Sally moved to Newfield. He was a dedicated employee for the City of Ithaca for over 25 years, retiring as a foreman in the water & sewer department. Chuck enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, auto racing, and watching his children’s sporting events.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a son, George Dudley Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sally J. Macey Baker; children, Joan Hubbell, Charlie R. Baker III (Karen), Dick Baker (Theresa), Duane D. Baker (Lisa); grandchildren, Diane, Jamie, Duane, Michelle, Steven, Nikki, Josh, Heather, Cody, Alexa, Wyatt, Andrew and Jared; great grandchildren, Jake, Searra, Breanna, Kristen, Ethan and Athena.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor John Sotero of First Assembly of God in Ithaca, will begin at 1pm, Monday, December, 10, 2012, at Pine Grove Cemetery, 470 Ridge Rd., Lansing, NY.

Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
