Carol Eastman, 81, of Lansing, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by family on November 7, 2023. Born in Ithaca on October 9, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Woodford) Preston and grew up in Ludlowville. Carol retired from Cornell University after 31 years as an administrative assistant in the School of ILR.
Carol enjoyed the beginning of her retirement living on Cayuga Lake, where her family will always cherish many memories with her. She then moved back to Lansing where she became grandma-next-door, living next to and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Spending this time with them filled her life with joy and abundance for the next 30 years.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Eastman, on January 22, 1991. She is survived by her partner of over 30 years, Chuck Speta of Lansing; children, Jeffrey Eastman of Marathon, Teri Bartlett of Lansing, and Greg Eastman (Michelle) of Lansing; grandchildren, Zachary Eastman (Sandra), Matthew Eastman (Vanessa), Brianne Rockefeller (Michael), Kyle Robinson (Matthew), Brad Bartlett, Audrey Eastman and Eric Eastman; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kameron and Wyatt Eastman, Brayden and Conner Rockefeller, Alexis Page, and Ben and Ava Robinson; and brother, Don Preston of Ithaca.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory may be made to Hospicare of Tompkins County or the Lansing Lunchbox.
