Betty J. LaBar, 87, of Lansing, passed away October 12, 2015 at the Groton Nursing Facility.
Born May 25, 1928 in the Town of Redfield, NY, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Daly Perce. Betty moved to Ithaca at a young age and was a graduate of Ithaca High School. She was employed for several years at GLF in Ithaca, and later at Cornell University.
Betty was an active member of Lansing United Methodist Church, and especially enjoyed Bible Study and quilting there as well as helping with the annual peanut brittle bees and rummage sales. She also enjoyed numerous arts & crafts projects, collecting depression glass, RV traveling and camping. Most important to Betty was time spent with family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her sisters, Rosamond and Norma.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Albert âAlâ LaBar; their children, Keith LaBar (Jacqueline) of Trumansburg, Dean LaBar (Helen) of PA, Donna Perry (Richard) of KY; grandchildren, Shelley (Jeff), Seth, Shalina, Scott (Eun-Kyong), Christine (Phil), Daniel, Elizabeth, Richard Jr. (Amy), Michael (Kristen), Brian; ten great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia Gould and Winifred Pulleyn; and a large extended family.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Jane Sautter, will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 31st, at Lansing United Methodist Church, 32 Brickyard Rd., Lansing, NY. Interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery will take place at a later date with immediate family present.
