Apkar K. Hovaguimian passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Apkar was born in Jerusalem, Palestine, on July 15, 1929. He moved to Kuwait in 1952 to work for a small trading company which he helped build into a multinational corporation. Apkar rose through the ranks and became the CEO of this company where he worked for 52 years. He was also a family man and was devoted to his wife, Sato, and two children, Arpi and Jack. Apkar loved to travel, especially to London, England. He was an avid soccer fan and could readily recall player and league statistics. In 2004, Apkar moved to Ithaca to live near his daughter. He spent the last eight years of his life with his friends at Kendal at Ithaca. He is survived by his daughter, Arpi Hovaguimian, (Kyle Summerskill), of Ithaca, NY, and his brother Apraham Hovaguimian of Vienna, Austria. A graveside service, officiated by Father Joseph Marcoux, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at East Lawn Cemetery, 934 Mitchell St., Ithaca.  All Family and friends are welcome.  A memorial service will be held at a later date at Kendal at Ithaca.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
