Maryanne Brubaker, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2016, surrounded by her family after a long illness. Maryanne was born on June 18, 1945 in Johnson City, NY, where she was raised in the triple cities area, eventually moving to Lansing with her young family.

She was predeceased by parents, Stephen and Erdene Vrablic. She is survived by her children, Paul (Peggy) Matulewicz, Michelle (Greg) Eastman, and Suzanne (John) Gain; and grandchildren, Nikole (Michael) Quanz, and Jordan Gain; and Audrey and Eric Eastman; and former husbands, Randy Brubaker and Norman Matulewicz. She is also survived by siblings, David (Patti) Vrablic, Albany, NY; twin sister Marilynn (Lee) Burger, Cocoa, FL; Paul (Shirley) Vrablic, Hume, IL; Lydia McDermott, Bolingbrook, IL; and Daniel (Dianne) Vrablic, Sandy Hook, CT; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her faithful companion and best four-legged friend, Walker.

Maryanne worked at several careers in addition to being a wife and mother. She was operating farm tractors and combines before she had a driver license. She dressed like Rosie the riveter to run a drill press at the Ithaca Gun Co. factory. She spent many years as a technician at Ithaco, where she was part of the team that prepared circuit boards that are onboard the Hubble Telescope and many other satellites. Most recently she was an administrative manager at Ithaca College from where she “retired”. Even then, she was never idle.

Maryanne’s shining personality came through in everything she did. Her positive attitude was infectious, and people were drawn to her light-hearted laughter, genuine smile, and playful sense of humor. She loved the outdoors and spent many hours gardening and walking with her dog. The range of her creative talent was inspiring. She loved to make beautiful things with her hands, including decorative wreaths and flower arrangements, toys, albums, jammies for her grandkids, ornaments, and even hand-stitched Sue’s wedding dress. She was a beautiful, friendly, happy person, inside and out, and she will be missed greatly.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Sam Neno, will begin at 11am, Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Groton Assembly of God, 701 S. Main St., Groton, NY.  Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lansing, will take place at a later date.  Lansing Funeral Home is assisting the family.
