Carol Frances Harsey Knapp VanEtten

Carol made a peaceful transition at Hospicare in Ithaca New York on 
August 11, 2009  following her struggle with recurrent cancer. She was a
20 year cancer survivor / thriver who lived her life with guts and
determination.

Carol graduated from Batavia High School and spent most of her adult
life as a waitress in various Ithaca restaurants. More recently, she
worked at Meadow Court and often said it was her best job and that she
enjoyed the staff.

Carol is survived by her son Michael Knapp (Greg Baker)  of PA; her
sister and good friend who helped her through this very rough journey -
Rachelle Harsey Judkins of Canandaigua NY, sister Doreen Hale Schrader
of Ithaca; brothers Harry Hale Jr of Ithaca, Terry Hale ( Cindy) of
Batavia NY, and several neices and nephews. She also leaves many
friends and their children whom she loved.  Carol was predeceased by her
husband Kenneth Knapp, mother Ann Hale, and brother Alan Hale.

On June 27th  Carol was able to participate with the large group that
assembled at the Ichabod in Ithaca  for a Celebration of Life. She so
enjoyed seeing everyone.

Carol, who loved to camp, chose a spot of beauty and peace as her final
resting place. Interment at the Greensprings Natural Cemetery Preserve,
south of Newfield, NY, will be  on Saturday , August 15, 2009  at  11:00
am.
